Short History of Robert Mondavi and His Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Mondavi got his start in wine in 1943 when his family acquired a winery in St Helena, Napa Valley California. From there, he dedicated his life to producing great wine, starting his own Robert Mondavi Winery in 1966. His goal was to produce Napa Valley wines that could compete with the most famous European fine wines. He did just that, and today his name is perhaps the most synonymous with wine in all of the United States. The Robert Mondavi Winery was the first winery built in Napa Valley in the post-prohibition era. The 2012 Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon embodies Robert's philosophy - making wines that are powerful, but still gentle. Every year, the blend reflects the "First Growth" quality of the To Kalon Vineyard, one of Napa's only premier Grand Cru viticultural AVAs. The Reserve Cabernet is a classic, representing the history of style at Robert Mondavi Winery. Powerful, the 2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has spicy blackberry and blueberry flavors, cinnamon, sage, coriander and tobacco aromas. Muscular, the wine is structured with fresh acidity, fine tannins and a rich mouthfeel.

Send Robert Mondavi Wine Gifts to Leave a Lasting Impression

Whether the occasion is personal or professional, sending a bottle of Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a gesture that won't easily be forgotten. GiftTree offers many impressive Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet gift presentations, but our favorite is the Private Cellar Gift Set - two Riedel Cab glasses and lush chocolates for pairing - it's a gift that's simple, elegant, not understated or overdressed. A Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet gift deserves a presentation as opulent as the wine itself.
