GiftTree Gets Social
New Facebook Application, YouTube and The Gift Exchange Blog
GiftTree.com, a leader in the online gift industry and an Internet Retailer Magazine's "Hot 100," has recently increased efforts to interact with their customers and would-be customers through Facebook application, "What I Want," YouTube and their buzzing gift blog, The Gift Exchange. The company continues to extend their reach by embracing social media.
GiftTree.com has long been recognized for their premium gift offering of gift baskets and wine gift baskets, as well as same day delivery of flowers, balloons and fruit baskets. GiftTree.com is using social media to interact with today's savvy internet users and as their new YouTube video shows, they're having fun doing it.
GiftTree debuted on YouTube early this year and recently launched their first "made for YouTube" video, Bad Pet Habits. Craig Bowen, CEO and co-founder of GiftTree.com, explains the motivation to create the tongue-in-cheek video. "GiftTree.com is a pet friendly company. A lot of our employees bring their dogs to work. They're all sweet and charming, but you get to know all of their bad habits too. Imagining the bad habits of unusual pets invites some pretty funny scenarios. We wanted to make a video that was funny and offbeat and we had a lot of fun doing it." The GiftTree "video crew" plans to create more fun videos as creative ideas surface.
The company's most recent venture into social media partners GiftTree.com with What I Want, a "social shopping" application on Facebook. Through What I Want, Facebook users can purchase gifts, create shopping lists and registries, share recommendations and much more. The application centers around sharing. As people add products to their lists, all What I Want users are able to see what products others are finding interesting.
What I Want is a unique application that has attracted other partners such as the Apple Store, Zappos.com and Eddie Bauer. GiftTree chose to partner with What I Want because of the high quality and usability of the application. GiftTree has high expectations for the future of this shopping channel.
The Gift Exchange, GiftTree's blog, was established in the beginning of 2008. The goal was to create a quality blog that people could look to for gifting guidance as well as encourage an interactive relationship between GiftTree and consumers. The blog has since become a hub of activity and continues to evolve to include expert wine tips, community involvement information, contests, and the opportunity to get to know GiftTree employee-bloggers, through their posts.
