Welcome to Why We Gift Wednesday! Each week, we celebrate one of the thousands of reasons that we truly love giving. Whether it’s honoring the relationships that we have, feeling grateful for an occasion or a special time of year, or relishing life’s simple joys, Why We Gift Wednesday is all about giving and generosity – the expression of appreciation for life’s many happy moments.
This Why We Gift Wednesday, we’re celebrating Thanksgiving, of course! Sure, Thanksgiving is great – there’s kids running around happily, dinner smells delicious, the weather is chilly but the hot apple cider is pouring, the stories are flowing and football is on! Or maybe it’s a stressful day – maybe you’re the one hosting or cooking for fifteen guests and everything is chaotic! But in spite of the fun or the stress, Thanksgiving is truly the time to gather our loved ones together, look around the table and grasp the magnitude of how blessed we are.
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” –Epicurus
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”
-A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
“In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.” -Elizabeth Gilbert
“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” -Eckhart Tolle
“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” -Maya Angelou
From all of us at GiftTree,
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Yours.
