Guest Post: Soda the Goldendoodle Introduces the “Gone to the Dogs” Collection

“Woof!” and hello! It’s about time the folks at GiftTree allowed me, Soda the goldendoodle (who is the most-tenured dog at the company, I may add), to finally expound on life on the company blog. Be on the lookout for future blog posts covering topics such as: – Home Impruffment Ideas – Who Let the Dogs Out: 20-Minute Walk Workout – The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Bob Barker – Paw & Order: Unwritten Rules of the Dog Park You could say that I’ve got more ideas than you can shake a stick at! …and please shake the stick more and toss it thataway… I was looking through the GiftTree collection and imagine my surprise when they lacked a luxurious collection of gift baskets for dogs. Incatceivable! So I teamed up with the wonderful designers at GiftTree to create a top of the line, paw-some, mastiff-ful collection of gift baskets exclusively for dogs. With mostly my input, of course. Introducing…   The “Gone to the Dogs” Collection The Bark Avenue   Inspiration for this gift comes from The Park Avenue Wine Gift Basket. You still get the fragrant Oregon Pinot Noir, berry-rich Cabernet and world-renowned Dom Perignon Brut Champagne along with savory fare and gourmet chocolates…but all wrapped up in a corgi pattern that is just the doggone cutest thing. Did you know that Pembroke Welsh corgis are often born tailless? I can’t even imagine! The Bone Appetit Gourmet Gift Basket   Striking a similar resemblence to our Bon Appetit Gourmet Gift Basket, the Bone Appetit is the cream of the crop and that’s not far-fetched (…get it?). The...

Design the Perfect Easter Table

If you’re having company over for Easter dinner, the table decor is the perfect way to bring that refreshing feeling of Spring to the indoors. Here at GiftTree we’re all about decorating for the holidays, so we’ve got some great tips for making your Easter tablescape look light, Spring-y and welcoming. 1. White, White, White. When you’re investing in china or fine table linens for special occasions, white or cream are the best choices. Buying holiday-specific tableware means you’ll only be able to use those dishes on that holiday, so for the rest of the year, that set pretty much just takes up precious storage space. Invest in fine white linens and white china. That way, you can use it year-round. The holiday-specific decor can be brought into the mix with the accents you use – which brings me to my next tip… 2. Pastel Accents. With the clean slate of white linen and white dishes, it’s time to bring Easter to the table with pretty pastels. For a fun, light, Springtime feel, opt for pinks, purples, and baby blues, in the form of napkins, napkin rings, candleholders, or maybe even a cute basket of dyed eggs. If you’re looking for a more grown-up feel for your Easter table, try light sage green, pale yellow, or a dusky rose. Depression glass makes perfect accent pieces, and sets are usually pretty easy to come by at antique stores. 3. Natural Embellishments. To truly bring a touch of the outdoors in and make that Easter table feel really Spring-y, take advantage of natural elements that are available where you live! Speckled Quail eggs can become a delicate accent to your place settings...

Shareable & Fun Family Easter Basket Ideas

Easter is a perfect day to get the whole family together and enjoy one another’s company. And what better way to get the whole family to do something together than to use a gift basket full of treats, crafts, or surprises!? If you need shareable and fun family Easter basket ideas, we’ve got what you’re looking for – read on! Easter Dye Kit Basket This one takes a little prep work, but it will provide hours of (messy) fun the whole day. You will need to hard boil enough eggs to fill a basket, grab an egg dye kit (the Dollar Store has them if you’re looking to save some money), and have any kind of basket handy. You can even use a fun hat! Then, surprise the family and let them know: it’s time to color some eggs! Make sure to give the eggs an appropriate amount of time to dry (a couple hours or so to be on the safe side). Sprinkle the colored eggs around the table and marvel at the masterpieces you have created amidst Easter dinner. Easter Craft Kit Basket A perfect option for those older kiddos. Dyeing eggs can be a little boring for those ready for the next challenge, and the next challenge is to get real creative! Get those eggs boiled, but also include any other crafty tool in your house. Cardboard, colored paper, scissors, glitter, glue, markers, Play-Doh: everything and anything! Challenge all members of the family to come up with their most creative masterpiece. Post each on social media and hold a poll – and to the victor goes...

Spring Cleaning, Organizing and Home Decor Tips!

Birds are chirping, trees are blooming and you want nothing more than to open all the windows and air out that stuffy, winter-worn home. That’s right, it’s time to Spring clean. If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, we’ve got a few tips and tricks to get you started. 1. Start at the top and work your way down. Make sure your spring cleaning starts at the top – dusting ceiling fans, clearing out cobwebs, cleaning ledges, door frames and windowsills. You wouldn’t want all of that dust to fall on a floor you’ve already cleaned, right? So work your way from top to bottom and you’ll only need to clean each surface once. 2. Put like items together – and keep them that way! Have a few bottles of nail polish in the bedroom, and a few in the bathroom, and one in the living room from when you painted your nails while you watched The Bachelor last week? Get them all together and designate one spot in your home for easy storage. 3. Explore creative storage solutions!  Target, IKEA and The Container store offer tons of smart, cute solutions to store everything from winter sweaters to crafting supplies and makeup. If you’re feeling extra resourceful, you may even be able to find the containers you need at your local Dollar Store. Just make sure that when you’re all tidied up, you remember where you stored that basket or box! 🙂 Label makers can come in handy here, too. 4. Donate clothes and shoes! Packing up and putting away your winter clothes? If you didn’t wear it all winter, it’s time to donate it. If you’re taking...

Saint Patrick’s Day Recipes

Parades, green clothes, green bodies of water, green beer, four leaf clovers, jaunty Irish tunes… What do these all portend? Why, Saint Patrick’s Day of course! Along with many others around the country, when early March rolls around I look forward to the arrival of Saint Patty’s Day and all it entails. Well except for maybe the green beer, I’ll take some thing a little more traditional like a Guinness, Murphy’s, Smithwick’s, perhaps even a shot of Redbreast. Please, please, please, anything but cheap light beer, dyed an unnatural green!   Pardon the digression, as the title implies, this post is actually about Saint Patrick’s Day recipes. In the United States one of the most ubiquitous meals associated with St. Patty’s Day is corned beef and cabbage. This hearty dish is a derivative from the traditional Irish meal of bacon and cabbage. The dish morphed into what we generally know to do as corned beef and cabbage when early Irish immigrants in the US began subbing corned beef in place of bacon. Other dishes that come to mind are shepherd’s pie and a plethora of dishes that are cooked using a dark stout such as Guinness, including stews, cakes and so forth.   Now that I’ve got everyone’s mouths watering for corned beef, shepherd’s pie and hearty beef stew, I’m going to throw a curve ball… Here are a few “traditional” favorites, but with a vegetarian or vegan twist. It may seem sacrilegious to remove the meat from some of these holiday favorites, however it’s a great way to make these dishes a tad healthier and you may just be...
