Festive Holiday Party Recipes

The holidays are just around the corner, and you know what that means- Holiday Parties! Whether you will be hosting a festive fête or an intimate soiree, nailing the perfect seasonal menu is the key to pulling off the ultimate party. While seasonal décor goes a long way for setting the mood for your celebration, nothing spreads the holiday cheer quite like a merry meal. Check out some of our favorite festive holiday party recipes and get inspired!   Cioppino In my house, it really doesn’t start to feel like the holidays until we bust out the cioppino. I seriously can’t overstate the importance of cioppino – I would be disowned from my family if I showed up to our holiday gathering without this delicious stew in hand. With its fiery red broth brimming full of the bounty of the sea, this recipe is actually pretty easy to make – it just takes a bit of prep work. Feel free to adapt it to use whatever seafood is the most fresh, and don’t forget to serve it with lots of crusty bread!         Gooey, Cheesy Fondue There is just something about dipping things into hot molten cheese that screams “holiday!” to me. While the time-honored Gruyère and white wine fondue is a classic for a reason, I’m very partial to this boozy cheddar variation that swaps out the white wine for Irish stout and a generous splash of whiskey. The addition of mustard and garlic really make it sing! Serve with accompaniments like crusty bread, sliced apples, and winter root vegetable crudité and bask in the...

Why We Gift Wednesday – Decorating Edition

Welcome to Why We Gift Wednesday! Each week, we celebrate one of the thousands of reasons that we truly love giving. Whether it’s honoring the relationships that we have, feeling grateful for an occasion or a special time of year, or relishing life’s simple joys, Why We Gift Wednesday is all about giving and generosity – the expression of appreciation for life’s many happy moments. This Why We Gift Wednesday, we’re celebrating decorating for the holidays! Family get-togethers, parties, delicious meals and gift-giving are all so much fun during the holiday season, but what makes these events truly special is the atmosphere that surrounds, and that means decorations. Shortly after Thanksgiving every year when I was growing up, Mom would take the holiday decoration boxes out of the hall closet, and for my older sister and me, this event was almost as good as Christmas itself. Piece by piece, we’d take the trinkets, ornaments and dishes out of their boxes. We’d play our favorite Christmas album (John Denver and the Muppets on cassette, of course) and with every unwrapped bauble, knick-knack and figurine that revealed itself from the newspaper Mom had wrapped it in the year before, we’d get more and more excited for the holidays. And not entirely about the gifts, it was everything – the music, the tree, the togetherness… the overall feeling of Christmas. We really got in the spirit of the season when those decorations came out. It’s something I’ll always remember with a lot of happiness in my heart, and today, my sister and her daughter carry the same tradition of decorating the house for Christmas together. As...

Lenox USA has been crafting the finest American porcelain and glassware right here in America since 1889. Six US Presidents have chosen Lenox to craft their dinnerware service, with as many as 4,000 pieces bearing the President’s seal in raised gold. This honor named Lenox the first American china to be used in the White House. Friday’s Featured Artisan – Amedei Tuscany

Welcome to Friday’s Featured Artisan! Each week, we focus on one of the many talented individuals and companies whose perfect products are proudly featured in GiftTree gifts. It may be a master chocolatier, a gourmet cheesemonger or a talented artist – GiftTree is here to connect their meaningful stories to the discovery of your next great gifting moment. This Friday’s Featured Artisan is no amateur in the world of fine chocolate. The award-winning Amedei Tuscany is known for producing some of the best chocolate in Italy, the result of Maitre Chocolatier Cecilia Tessieri’s passion for fine chocolate. It all began with an idea and a desire to find the world’s best cocoa bean in order to produce the most exquisite chocolate possible. A deep passion for chocolate and devotion to work, together with a continual search for perfection, have all factored into making Amedei what it is today. Cecilia began in a 45-square foot workshop, driven to search for the ultimate perfection in hand made chocolates, seeking the best cocoa beans possible. Her exploration took her to far off places, places where cocoa varieties are cultivated to retain the aromatic character of the territory to which they belong. In 1998 the first chocolate bars from Amedei (named after Cecilia’s grandmother) became available, and the company is still driven by one mission: to make the world a little sweeter, one chocolate bar at a time. Here at GiftTree we’re delighted to offer the lucious Amedei Toscano Blond chocolate bar, a 63% dark chocolate bar blended with succlent pieces of peach and apricot. Yum! We curated the Toscano Blond for two of our newest gift baskets,...

Why We Gift Wednesday – Thanksgiving Edition

Welcome to Why We Gift Wednesday! Each week, we celebrate one of the thousands of reasons that we truly love giving. Whether it’s honoring the relationships that we have, feeling grateful for an occasion or a special time of year, or relishing life’s simple joys, Why We Gift Wednesday is all about giving and generosity – the expression of appreciation for life’s many happy moments. This Why We Gift Wednesday, we’re celebrating Thanksgiving, of course! Sure, Thanksgiving is great – there’s kids running around happily, dinner smells delicious, the weather is chilly but the hot apple cider is pouring, the stories are flowing and football is on! Or maybe it’s a stressful day – maybe you’re the one hosting or cooking for fifteen guests and everything is chaotic! But in spite of the fun or the stress, Thanksgiving is truly the time to gather our loved ones together, look around the table and grasp the magnitude of how blessed we are.   “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” –Epicurus “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson “Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” -A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh “In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you,...

Leave a Lasting Impression with Corporate Gifts

When it comes to Corporate Gifting, it can be an angst-filled time of year. The question at hand: What to give to the business partners and employees to leave a lasting impression? The question seems so innocuous, but it isn’t necessarily so. The way to address finding the perfect corporate gift is by asking two questions: First, what do you want to say to the recipient? And secondly, what does the gift say about you? Here’s the way I think about the first question, “What do you want to say to the recipient?” Be specific and appreciative in your gift message. “Thank you Joan for your incredible support of our team this year!” or “Dear Joan, I know you love Godiva chocolate and we wanted to show how much we appreciate you!” Why put all the effort into buying a gift and rush through the message? Make a connection. If a gift can open the door to a personal discussion, go ahead! For example: “Dear Xavier, Eat the deliciousness inside now, but save the Veuve for my next visit to town for us to enjoy together.” For business gifts, think about giving a gift that’s an appropriate size. You want everyone to enjoy the gift. A small office may enjoy a smaller gift, like a tower full of fresh fruit. Larger business relationship or teams probably warrants a larger gift to share with everyone, like an abundant gift basket.   The next question can sometimes be forgotten, but is very real. “What does the gift say about you and your company?” Where you buy says something about you. This is admittedly self-serving...

Friday’s Featured Artisan – Lavazza Italian Coffee Company

Welcome to Friday’s Featured Artisan! Each week, we focus on one of the many talented individuals and companies whose perfect products are proudly featured in GiftTree gifts. It may be a master chocolatier, a gourmet cheesemonger or a talented artist – GiftTree is here to connect their meaningful stories to the discovery of your next great gifting moment. This Friday’s Featured Artisan is truly an icon – Lavazza Italian Coffee Company. It all started in 1895 , when Luigi Lavazza opened his own small grocery shop in via San Tommaso, Turin, Italy. Luigi had always been great lover of coffee, and soon after opening his shop, he became interested in the different origins and characteristics of coffee plants. He took a trip to Brazil to study the art of coffee making, returning to create blends that met the tastes of his customers and launching his coffee’s popularity. After World War I, Turin was bustling – Fiat opened a plant there, and the Lavazza grocery shop expanded to a small business, the Luigi Lavazza Company. After World War II, Italy became a republic, the embargo on coffee imports came to an end, and Lavazza decided to focus solely on packed coffee bearing the Lavazza name. In 1950, the first pressure vacuum-packed tins were used to preserve the aroma of the coffee and all of its flavor. This made long-term conservation (and much wider distribution) possible. Still headquartered in Turin, Lavazza built its great roasting plant 1957, with an innovative processing system that made it possible for Lavazza to produce over 85,000 lbs of coffee beans every day. The Lavazza coffee we drink today is...
