51 Days Until Christmas…

This week, as I flipped my calendar open to November, a familiar sense of panic stole over me. Before I had children, I used to put a great deal of thought into all my holiday gifts; hand-made pillows tied with elaborate bows one year, fused glass one-of-a-kind coasters the next. I didn’t realize at the time that I was setting an unreasonable standard for future years. Who has time for home made truffles?? Now that I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old, as well as a full time job I certainly don’t. I used the “I’m a brand new mom and you were lucky to get the Starbucks gift card!!” excuse, but I think that ship has sailed since both my children are now walking and talking. Darn. So when November reared its ugly head this year, I frantically started making lists of friends and loved ones that have been unfairly ignored and promised “a really great gift NEXT year”…. and in the midst of my hysteria my super calm husband turned to me. “Don’t you work for a GIFT company?” I hate it when he makes sense. And of course he is completely right. Not only do I work for a gift company, but my amazing employers are ahead of the rest on personalized and unique gifts, so never again will I have to drive to the mall, park, wade through the masses, pay too much for a dumb sweater, box the darn thing and ship it myself just barely making it in time…. from now on I can order for everyone on one...

Tea Time!

When I was little I loved spending time with my grandma. I would go to her house and spend the day shopping and having girl time. Those were the best times. After a long day I would get ready for bed in one of my grandpa’s t-shirts that was 6 times to big for me. My grandma would always make me a cup of peppermint tea with a splash of honey and a cookie of my choice! During holidays and birthdays it is so hard to find something for my grandma that she will enjoy. This lady has almost everything! GiftTree.com is always coming out with new gifts that are amazing! New to the website is this awesome basket called Traditional Teatime Basket. This beautiful basket is great for any tea lover, it has so much to chose from! It comes with several different flavors of tea, honey and shortbread cookies complete with a teapot and cup. All you need is the water! This is such a perfect gift for her and I know as soon as she opens it she will know that I cherish those days when I was little. Making her smile is the best feeling...

National Picnic Month

July is National Picnic Month and, more specifically, July 18th is International Picnic Day. With the summer sun shining bright overhead, what better time is there to take your loved one on a picnic? With our Deluxe Eco-Friendly Picnic Basket for Two, you can not only enjoy a great day out, but help the environment at the same time! Here are some other helpful tips on being eco-friendly while on a picnic: Instead of driving to your picnic destination, instead try walking, hiking or biking. This cuts down on pollution and gives you some pre-picnic aerobic exercise. Although this should be a no-brainer, avoid using styrofoam! Reusable containers are a great substitute and also protect your basket from spills. Use cloth napkins instead of paper towels. This reduces the amount of trash that goes into our landfills. Bring a trash bag with you for your waste. If you bring it in, you should also bring it out! Now that we know some great ways to keep the environment safe, what should should we bring to eat? Here are some simple food suggestions: Sandwiches! Cut them in half or into quarters so that you can mix and match. Salads of all types; green, macaroni and potato are the most popular. Snacks such as muffins, cookies and fruits should always be included. Iced tea, water and lemonade are great alternatives to sugary sodas. Are there any picnic or outdoor activities planned for you this summer? What are your favorite picnic foods? Enjoy the sun and Happy...
