Tree of Enchantment Ornamental Glass

The new Tree of Enchantment Ornamental Glass is a beautiful work of art. Each signature piece is created by a 12 hour melting process using broken shards of glass from a Seattle, WA supplier that makes windows for cars, homes and offices. Stephen Kitras, a world famous artist, is the designer of this hand-blown glass orb. The internal stranding represents the tree trunk and the branches that reach out to the exterior of the ornament support the translucent tree’s leaves on the globe’s exterior. Truly a stunning work of art by an incredibly talented artist. Stephen got his start as a glass blower in 1988 acquiring his knowledge and skills at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario Canada. His company, Kitras Art Glass, was formed in 1994 and initially he and his wife, Elke, handled production and administrative tasks; shipping products from their dining room table. By 2001 the company’s sales had increased to a point where they had to build a new facility to accommodate the growth. In 2006 Stephen’s oldest daughter, Sophie, joined the company as the sales and marketing manager. In 1999 Stephen suffered the loss of his wife to leukemia, but the vision that she and Stephen had for the company continues to flourish. Each piece of Stephen Kitras’ artwork is an individual, unique piece of art making it a perfect gift for an art collector or someone who enjoys nature. The Tree of Enchantment would make a bold interior decorating statement during the fall and winter months reflecting light while hanging in a window and during the spring and summer months by dramatically adding to...

Spring Cleaning

Everything around here seems to be shedding those winter blues. It’s no longer dark when I wake up for work in the morning, the birds are all flooding back home and we have our new selection of spring flowers. I was sitting at my desk staring out of the window at the blue sky (which is a RARE occasion here in Washington where, as Jeannie says, “our state flower is mold”) and realized the mess winter left behind. My desk is cluttered, I still haven’t found the energy to take down the rest of the holiday decorations at home, the kittens are shedding…I think it’s definitely time to sweep up last year’s dirt and make way for more bright and cheery things. Yes, it’s time for spring cleaning. I don’t know many people who have the motivation to jump right into good ol’ cleaning time, especially when you stand in the middle of a room and have no clue where to begin. I’ve rounded up a few tricks on how to make it just a little easier: 1. If your rubber gloves are sticking to your skin and you can’t remove them, hold them under cold water for a few seconds and they’ll come right off. 2. Take a digital photo of something as you take it apart to fix it. This way you’ll be able to reference how to put the darn thing back together. 3. Can’t fit a brush into narrow bottles and vases to clean them? Fill them with water and add a tablet of denture cleaner. Viola! 4. Put a tiny amount of baby oil...

Name the Baby

I know I have talked about baby names in the GiftTree blog before, but I have a real  dilemma and need some help! With so many siblings we have come up with some interesting ways that we were named as kids, but Matt and I just can’t seem to agree on any names for our little one. He seems to like more traditional names while I on the other hand like a more unique sounding name. Regardless if we have a boy or a girl it’s middle name will be James so that is the only thing we have nailed down so far, and our last name, of course. We have also stuck to our guns on not finding out what the sex of the baby is going to be so that makes it twice as tough. With all this going on I have been looking for baby stuff and really want to get the Engraved Baby Shoe Keepsake, but what do I put for a name? I could use all the suggestions I can get right now so please help me out here! The baby name books are just not cutting it. Thanks everyone, I look forward to hearing your...

The Perfect Gift for that Perfect “Someone”

Summer is becoming more and more well-known for being wedding season. Well, doesn’t that also mean that it’s anniversary season? What a coincidence! My very first wedding anniversary is in a few days! (Disclaimer: This blog is in no way intended give any hints to the husband of the author of this article. Any wording or suggestive sentences that may be construed as subliminal messaging are a figment of your imagination. Buy Healing Spa Slippers with Amenities Bag) I have randomly come across an incredible gift (Healing Spa Slippers and Amenities) that I haven’t really put that much thought into. I suppose that if an anniversary were coming up this might possibly be a very suitable gift for such occasion for someone. Without going into too much detail about why Healing Spa Slippers and Amenities would be the perfect gift, I would just like to take a second to briefly mention a few good qualities of it. You know, just in case you were interested in making the woman in your life very happy by giving her the Healing Spa Slippers and Amenities. The slippers are made of chenille and velvet with a microwaveable insert to provide the user (perhaps someone that you love very much and would like to be comfortable) with a spa-like relaxing experience in the comfort of their own home, car, or even work! Penetrating eucalyptus vapors and muscle-relaxing heat soothe achy muscles and relieve congested sinuses, and when the heat and vapors mingle together it increases circulation causing your lovely lady to be in a much better mood and possibly letting you play poker...

Cookie Cravings

I’m a woman. Therefore (according to my husband) I’m sensitive, sarcastic, moody (all of these things rightfully so, might I add), and sometimes I just want some freaking cookies. Oh, cookies, what a precious gift to the world. I’m ashamed to admit that there are times when I whip up some cookie batter and it never even makes it to the oven. In fact, there’s a giant bowl of cookie dough sitting in my freezer right now just waiting for me to get home! Is it pathetic that I’m actually looking forward to this?! Don’t judge me. Chocolate chip, snicker doodle, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, white chocolate hazelnut… if you’re not craving these by now, there is quite possibly something very seriously wrong with you. You might want to get that checked out. Really. They’re the perfect table topper when company comes over, or when you’re visiting a friend and don’t want to show up empty handed. No matter the reason these wonderful treats never fail to impress or say, “I was thinking about you”. If there is one piece of wise advice I can give you for the day it is this: Find one loved one that you haven’t talked to in a while, or who deserves a very simple act of thoughtfulness and send some cookies their way. Whether it brings back wonderful childhood memories or warms their heart from the unexpected kind gesture, you’re sure to make their day! Want to go one more step toward looking creative with out having to rack your brain? Try the Apothecary Jar of Cookies or the New Baby Cookie...
