Presentation Matters: It’s All in the Details

Presentation Matters: It’s All in the Details

Giving a meaningful gift to someone is just as much about the giver as it is about the recipient. The offering you present to celebrate an occasion or mark a milestone is, in essence, a representation of your feelings toward that person or occasion. Through our gift giving, it’s so important not to let the reason that we’re giving pass us right by, leaving the moment understated. Here at GiftTree, we think a lot of that declaration is expressed through the presentation of a gift. Of course, getting a gift from anyone for any reason is always a joy, but have you ever received an unwrapped gift? Didn’t it sort of feel like someone was just kind of handing you something? If you really want to make your gift giving moments memorable, consider the presentation of your gift! After all, so much of the excitement of receiving a gift is the moment as they’re unwrapping, right before the reveal. There’s that wonderful anticipation of “what on earth could this be?”, and it just goes to show that presentation matters. So how does GiftTree make our gift baskets truly meaningful? It’s all that attention to detail! Hand-tied satin ribbons, beautiful customized note cards, little scissors to snip the gift open… we can tell you about all the details, but it’s better to show you! A few months ago, we shot a video showing the unboxing of one of our great gift baskets, so customers just like you could see exactly what your recipient will experience when opening up our gifts....

Meet The Team: Jessica Rechkemmer

Meet The Team: Jessica Rechkemmer

At GiftTree we strive to make each interaction that you have with us distinctive and memorable. From our website, to our social media conversations, and our special email offers, we want each touch point that you have with us to be streamlined and effortless. One of the key people who helps keep our communication and messaging on point and cohesive, is our Director of Marketing, Jessica Rechkemmer. We sat down with Jessica to talk inspiration, creativity, and a little bit of life too. Tell us a little bit about where you grew up.  I grew up in the small town of Clear Lake, Iowa. My parents bought an abandoned farm with 10 acres in the country and we made it our home! We had a bunch of furry critters around the farm including dogs, cats, and horses. My mom is also an avid gardener, so she spent a lot of time cultivating organic fruits and vegetables for our family meals. She also lobbied against the farmers in our area to stop spraying pesticides. Even though Clear Lake is a small town, it does have a claim to fame – Richie Valens (La Bamba), Buddy Holly, and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, all performed at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake (and then tragically died in a plane crash.) Growing up with the historic Surf Ballroom nearby allowed my love of live music to grow at a young age. Where do your greatest passions lie? Spending time with my family and friends. Gardening, enjoying music, decorating, drinking wine, and eating delicious food. Where would we most likely find you on the weekends? Portland has a...

Meet the Team: Jordan Crittenden, Photographer

One look through GiftTree’s beautiful website and you’ll plainly see that all of our gifts are curated and photographed with a sleek, clean, streamlined aesthetic. This is thanks in part to our fabulous in-house photographer, Jordan Crittenden. Behind the scenes in our photo studio here in the lovely Pacific Northwest, Jordan works side-by-side with our stylist to capture our gifts at their very best. We sat down with Jordan to talk inspiration, creativity and a little bit of life, too. Onward! Tell us a little bit about where you grew up!  Jordan: I was born in Portland, Oregon, but grew up in Reno, Nevada. It’s been good to get out of the desert and come back to the Pacific Northwest. Where do your greatest passions lie? I struggle with that question every day. I’m into a lot of things – art, music, motorcycles… it’s impossible to choose. Where would we most likely find you on the weekends? On the weekends you’ll definitely find me around town, getting breakfast with friends. I really like breakfast. When did you know you wanted to work in photography?  I took my first photo class in high school and then continued on in college, that’s where I really got serious about it. What brought you to the Photography Studio at GiftTree? Tell us a little about your adventures! Our stylist and Catalog Producer, Amy! I met her through a mutual acquaintance, and when a job opened up at GiftTree to be photo editor, I took it. I became the main photographer two months later. What inspires you the most about working at GiftTree? I truly believe that inspiration...
Typography and the Art of Gifting

Typography and the Art of Gifting

Have you ever really paid attention to the fonts on your favorite products? Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed. When you put it that way, typography seems like it should be crucial to a product’s design, but unfortunately it’s not always at the top of the totem pole, coming in much lower than illustrations, graphics, or photos. But the truth is, if the typography on your package or product isn’t attractive, you can easily repel a reader or consumer. And so typography is even more important when it comes to giving a gift! Say you’re giving a gift to a loved one with something personal printed on it – maybe a special message printed on a ribbon, or their name engraved on something special, transforming the gift into a precious keepsake. The typography’s affect on a gift’s appeal can make a good gift  a truly remarkable one – one that leaves a lasting impression. At GiftTree, our Personalization Department goes to great lengths to make sure that the fonts we use are never boring, never old fashioned, always stylish and always current. We’ve gathered a “best of” list, sharing our latest and greatest gifts with new fonts that perfectly blend modern appeal with timeless and classic sophistication, while still having a little bit of fun. Onward!   When the occasion calls for something bubbly, present a toast with our Lush Blush Champagne Crate. GiftTree’s designers exclusively created this loving and playful gift, featuring a “Love the Wine You’re With” message, crafted using a fusion of feminine and modern fonts. One of our bestselling gifts, the Monogrammed Mug recently had a facelift,...
Spring and Summer Pacific Northwest Guide

Spring and Summer Pacific Northwest Guide

Here in Portland, Oregon, we’re huge fans of Spring and Summer. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the Pacific Northwest has one of the rainiest winters in the United States (we got close to 26 inches of rain just in December last year!), or maybe it’s the cloud-cover from October to April, but when Spring hits, Pacific Northwesterners are up and at ’em, getting outdoors and soaking in as much sun as we can, whether it’s out and about in the city, hiking through the Columbia gorge or hitting the beach. GiftTree’s Marketing and Design departments got together to create this sunny list of our favorite Spring and Summer activities in Portland and its neighboring towns. If you ever visit the Pacific Northwest, we hope you can hit some of these Spring and Summer attractions. Onward! Parks, Hikes and Outdoorsy Goodness Columbia River Gorge and Mt. St. Helens Hiking Trails – As temperatures rise, rains ebb and the sun begins to peak out from behind the clouds, many people from the Portland area head out into the outdoors and surrounding forests to explore and have fun. Within an hour or two drive from Portland, there are numerous hiking opportunities, two great places to explore are the Columbia River Gorge and Mount St. Helens. If you’re looking for gorgeous views of waterfalls, the Gorge is a great place to go. Trailheads can be found on both sides of the Columbia River in Oregon and Washington, however most waterfalls will be found on the South side of the river in Oregon. The hikes range from easy to strenuous and...
