Impressive Real Estate Closing Gifts

Impressive Real Estate Closing Gifts

Buying or selling a home is a big milestone, and when it comes time to thank the buyers and sellers for making them an integral part of the process, most realtors and real estate agents give what is referred to as a closing gift. This industry-standard is practiced all over the United States, and many agents believe that it helps lead to referrals, too. Much of the time, closing gifts come in the form of a housewarming-style offering, and the added touch of personalization – the clients’ names, your agency logo – really elevates the gift to a noteworthy level. Why We Gift Wednesday (Batch Cooking Edition)

Welcome to Why We Gift Wednesday! Each week, we celebrate one of the thousands of reasons that we truly love giving. Whether it’s honoring the relationships that we have, feeling grateful for an occasion or a special time of year, or relishing life’s simple joys, Why We Gift Wednesday is all about giving and generosity – the expression of appreciation for life’s many happy moments. We’ve all been there – your fridge is full of food and components to make dinners for the week, but every night has something going on, and you just won’t be able to come home, drop everything and cook dinner every night. That’s where batch cooking (some call it meal prep) comes in! Batch cooking is all about being thinking ahead and getting prepared.  By making that great big pot of chili and storing it in portions for dinners throughout the week, you’re saving time, preserving food quality and eliminating a lot of wasted food. Soups and stews, rice bowls with veggies, turkey meatballs with garlicky marinara sauce, portions of salmon or chicken breast and veggies – the options are endless. Meal prepping is an awesome way to make sure that you and your family are staying within your calorie-boundaries, too! So take a Sunday afternoon and plan ahead, creating delicious meals that everyone in your family will enjoy and appreciate! Isn’t it great to think ahead of time? From a day planner to laying out tomorrow’s clothes before bed, to planning the week’s menu and cooking delicious meals to simply reheat, a little preparation goes a long way. If there’s someone in your life who makes life easier (and a...

Explore the Beekman 1802 Farmstead

There’s a 60-acre farm nestled in rural New York that is as quaint as quaint can be. A stark white mansion built in 1802 is the focal point; the blazing red barn a close second. Heirloom vegetables dot the garden with drops of color while an endless sky perfectly encapsulates it all. Seeking a weekend retreat away from the city, that Manhattanites Josh Kilmer-Purcell, a former advertising executive and Brent Ridge, a physician and former Vice President of Healthy Living for Martha Stewart Omnimedia decided to buy the farm in 2007.(If the names Kilmer-Purcel and Ridge sound familiar, you may have watched them win The Amazing Race in 2012). When both men lost their jobs during the 2008 recession and faced foreclosure on the property, they made the decision that, to save the farm, they would need to make it profitable. After hearing of a neighboring farmer who was also in dire straits, they offered to take him and his heard of dairy goats in, and, together, began producing soaps and cheeses and laid the foundation for what is now the Beekman 1802 farmstead. The ensuing hilarity of the pair’s new life with Farmer John and the goats was documented on the show The Fabulous Beekman Boys and in Kilmer-Purcell’s best-selling book The Bucolic Plague. The team’s hard work paid off, though, as the Beekman 1802 brand has skyrocketed into one of the fasted growing lifestyle brands in the country. Beekman 1802 features a variety of home goods, foods, cookbooks and more, all of which are exclusively theirs. The brand reflects a passion for fine foods, beautiful products and, most importantly, community. Kilmer-Purcell...
Hello Autumn! Our Favorite Fall Bouquets

Hello Autumn! Our Favorite Fall Bouquets

Autumn is a time of rapid metamorphosis, straddling the line between plenty and scarcity. It alerts Mother Nature to slow down, shed everything but what is absolutely necessary, and hunker down for cold days ahead. While she is paring down, humans work to gather the last of Her year’s gifts as part of their preparation for the barren months ahead. There is tremendous beauty in the autumnal transformation, as witnessed by the changing of the leaves – from green to yellow to orange to rust. Those who pause long enough to observe this progression are privy to a beautiful kaleidoscopic show. Even crunchy leaves, half barren trees and brown fields have an appeal of their own. With so much beauty afoot, it’s no wonder that much tradition surrounds these rust colored days, from annual harvest festivals and farmers announcing the last of the year’s bounty to Thanksgiving with cornucopias featuring the best of our year’s yield. Autumn may, perhaps, be the time of year where we are most aware of and connected to our natural surroundings. Our hands get dirty in the garden pulling out pumpkins and squash. We lean against trees, plucking the remaining apples from their limbs. We rake up leaves and jump in the brittle pile. We ride atop hay bales on rickety trailers through pumpkin patches. Then, once home with our glowing globe, we plunge our hands into its cavern to pull out its slimy, delicious seeds. One can’t forget that this period of allurement also welcomes some of the season’s most vibrant, unique blooms. In our own gardens, we may see the emergence of chrysanthemums...
