Feeling like every single sweet thing is pumpkin-spiced these days? We feel you. Good news! This Sunday October 28th is National Chocolate Day. Above the caramel, above the peanut butter, above the -dare I say it- *lowers voice to whisper, looks around* pumpkin spice, it’s no secret that chocolate reigns supreme when it comes to desserts and sweets. Of course it’s always fun to put a little twist on your baking to celebrate the current season, so here are five luscious chocolate recipes that are perfect for Fall. National Chocolate Day – October 28   Chocolate Chunk Cinnamon Cookies Cinnamon adds that deliciously warm flavor that’s absolutely perfect for Fall baking. This recipe comes to us from Love From The Oven.   Tahini & Halva Brownies This recipe is from NPR’s awesome food podcast The Splendid Table, via Yotam Ottolenghi, an incredible Israeli-British chef, bestselling cookbook author and restaurant owner. The recipe might sound a little off the beaten path, but the combination of savory and sweet is to die for. No one, and we mean no one, will be able to resist these. Bring them to Thanksgiving at the in-laws and gain major brownie points! (See what I did there? Eh? Celebrating Sweetest Day

Celebrating Sweetest Day

Saturday, October 20th is Sweetest Day! “What is Sweetest Day?,” you ask, “Is it like Valentine’s Day?”  Contrary to common belief, Sweetest Day is not a romantic holiday for couples at all. Think of it more as a “Gesture of Kindness Day”. While only a small portion of the United States knows about this Midwest tradition, we’re all about celebrating Sweetest Day here at GiftTree. The History of Sweetest Day Since the 1920s, Sweetest Day has been an Ohio tradition every third Saturday in October. A candy maker in Ohio named Herbert Kingston created the holiday because he wanted to give candy away (rather than boost sales) as a gesture of kindness to the poor and needy in Cleveland. Sweetest Day’s original name was “The Sweetest Day of the Year”, because it’s an opportunity to remember those less fortunate and do something sweet. What Sweetest Day Looks Like Today Today, people give each other Sweetest Day gifts in the form of candy, flowers, or greeting cards to those who may sometimes feel forgotten about. They want to show them that they’re thought about often, cared for and loved. With that, GiftTree has a great collection of Sweetest Day gifts – here’s some of our personal favorites, guaranteed to make everyone feel special. And if you order before 2pm on Wednesday 10.17.18, you can have your sweet gift delivered in time. French Macaron Collection Pastry masters Bo & Bon present a collection of macarons. Handcrafted using only the finest ingredients, these French confections are sweet, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Presented in a gift box, it’s a sophisticated gesture for Sweetest Day! 29 Kosher Macarons...
