Better Late Than Never: Perfect Belated Gifts

Better Late Than Never: Perfect Belated Gifts

Welcome to GiftTree’s 20th Anniversary Blog Series: 20 Ways to Elevate Your Gift Giving. At GiftTree, we delight in taking ordinary gifting moments and transforming them into extraordinary ones. When a special occasion arises, giving a gift that doesn’t understate the sentiment is the cornerstone of gift-giving. Whether the gift-giving be professional or personal, throughout this series, we intend to focus in on what makes a good gifting moment great, as well as how you can learn to select the perfect gift for any milestone or cause for celebration.

Maybe you’ve been traveling, or maybe the occasion simply slipped your mind – you missed a special occasion! We get it, life is hectic and we all make mistakes. You might feel slightly embarrassed, and that’s understandable. The good news is that even if a gift is belated, friends and family members will still appreciate being remembered and thought of, even if the acknowledgement comes a little later than expected. The truth is, there is no perfect belated gift – unless it’s specifically catered to that particular day, you can still give them the exact same thing  you would have given them on time! Really, it’s so much more about the message that you send. Here are some great “sorry I’m late” messages to write in a belated gift’s card. We used the “birthday”, but these types of messages can work for virtually any special occasion!

I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date – and that would be your birthday! Hope it was a wonderful day.

How do you expect me to remember your birthday when you never look any older?

I hope your birthday was filled with everything that makes you happy – you deserve it!

I am so sorry I missed your birthday, but my wishes are always with you, all year long. Happy Birthday!

Finding the perfect gift for someone as special as you takes a little extra time. Happy belated birthday!

One of the things I love about you the most is that you never get angry, even when my birthday card is late. Happy belated birthday!
