Welcome to Friday’s Featured Artisan! Each week, we focus on one of the many talented individuals and companies whose perfect products are proudly featured in GiftTree gifts. It may be a master chocolatier, a gourmet cheesemonger or a talented artist – GiftTree is here to connect their meaningful stories to the discovery of your next great gifting moment.
This Friday’s Featured Artisan is Hand in Hand, a bath and beauty company crafting artisan soaps, scrubs, lotions and more, from sustainable materials and natural fragrances derived from plants and flowers. But it doesn’t end there – for every product purchased, Hand in Hand donates one bar of soap and one month of clean water to a child in need.
Founders Bill Glaab and Courtney Apple started Hand in Hand in 2005 after learning that every year, nearly 5 million children lose their lives to water-related illness – illness that could be prevented with simple hand-washing. But without access to clean water, this isn’t a possibility. Working with the worldwide child advocacy group My Neighbor’s Children, Hand in Hand works to build wells and provide soap to children in Haiti, a country that has been ravaged by natural disaster, disease and poverty.
In 2012 Hand in Hand took their first donation to Haiti, and to date, they have donated 437,000 bars of soap and built or repaired 4 wells that provide thousands of people with clean water.
GiftTree is honored to carry Hand in Hand’s Sea Salt Sugar Scrub, a fresh and invigorating blend of ten varieties of mint, including water mint, peppermint, and freshly cut eucalyptus, in our Opulent Spa Basket, a collection of soothing scrubs and fragrant bath and body essentials creating a truly tranquil offering.
