Customer Service Week

This week is Customer Service Week – Woo Hoo! It started in 1992 when the U.S. Congress proclaimed Customer Service Week a nationally recognized event, celebrated annually during the first full week in October.

Some say that customer service is a dying art. Maybe at some places but not here at GiftTree. I have the pleasure of witnessing everyday, the care and concern our customer service reps provide for our customers. From the time one places their order online or via phone, clear through to the delivery confirmation and tracking information, we take the needed steps to make sure that our customer’s have an excellent experience. We love our customers and want them to love us back!

It doesn’t take an act of congress to have fun in the office and celebrate customer service. That’s right! Show yourself and your fellow customer service colleagues some appreciation. Here are some ideas to celebrate Customer Service Week or any time of the year to boost moral and the fun factor.

Have a potluck. I just had the pleasure of feasting in our own company’s party. I can tell you that my co-workers are just as talented at cooking as they are at customer service. That is saying something because this team is the cream of the crop. Just fabulous!

Choose a theme for the day. Remember spirit weeks in high school? How much fun did you have on western, 80’s, or film star dress up days? Have a contest to see who looks most like a celebrity or character. Consider yourself lucky if you have a Johnny Deep or Kate Winslett look- a-like among the crowd.

Or how about a dress up your cubicle day? This could be extremely interesting. A great way to get an inside look at your co-workers hobbies, passions and creativity. Complete the event with secret ballot voting and prizes for the winners.

Of course, the easiest way to show your appreciation to those in customer service this week and any other week, is to simply take the time to say “thanks.” Because while most people in customer service roles are people people (you know what I mean) and love what they do, it is always especially nice when someone takes the time to say thanks.

Happy Customer Service Day to all my bosses and co-workers here at GiftTree! You make working here fun!
