Along with Morning Sickness!?

So I was talking to a close friend and her husband recently about her new pregnancy and the first thing he blurted out was- “My wife has been abducted by aliens!” I thought it was funny, she didn’t… The problem, I guess is the side effects that she has experienced by getting pregnant. So many women want to have a baby, then they get pregnant and wonder what the heck they got themselves into. Others seem to bask in it. You would not believe how many side effect there can be to pregnancy! I’m sure you know the obvious ones, weight gain, morning sickness, cravings. Well, here are a few I bet you never thought of-

  • Congestion, bloody noses
  • skin disorders
  • headaches
  • trouble sleeping
  • bleeding gums
  • carpal tunnel
  • shortness of breath
  • hair loss
  • anemia
  • moles
  • infection
Can you believe how may things can happen during such a precious time in your life? Luckily most people only get a few of these types of symptoms during pregnancies. I am sure there are many more as well. So my friend,  has unfortunately ended up with a skin disorder she never had before, commonly known as a rash :) I decided to try and help and got her the Mommy and Baby Cute as Can Bee. I killed two birds with one stone on this one. (I apologize for using the word kill in my baby blog) Anyhow, my reasoning for this is that this gift has a bunch of Burt’s Bees Products included like the Garden Carrot Complexions soap and Almond Milk Hand Creme. This gift was also for selfish reasons, if this stuff works, I know what to use when I end up with a bun in the oven.

What types of effects did you experience when you were pregnant?

  1. All the pain and suffering for me was forgotten the minute I held my new baby for the first time. Now that he’s 9 and I hear horror stories about the teen years, I’m more scared then when I was pregnant…

  2. My biggest side effect turned out to be 6 foot 7 and 235 pounds. Thank God he wasn’t that big when he was born!

  3. Sandy, best thing I ever did, and so worth it trust me!

  4. I think pregnancy is beautiful and everything.. but all that, that you guys are describing, is probably my worst fear.

  5. My limbs went to sleep whenever I went to sleep for the first 5 months of my pregnancy, so needless to say I was just about to lose it when I finally moved on the next stage. Bloody noses, swollen feet and hands….and at the time I was a chef so you can only imagine how a hot kitchen felt at 8 months along! But the worse has to be the “chicken skin” I’ve gotten since Delilah, it’s a common skin condition but I never had it before. Pregnancy can be pretty gross :) Good thing my little one is so cute!

  6. My favorite side effects so far ( with only 4 weeks to go.. ) is the trouble sleeping, heartburn and the most uncomfortable swollen feet and ankles. This last one makes it almost impossible to wear shoes. My first trimester wasn’t really the morning sickness, it was feeling nauseous all the time. I can’t wait for the most precious gift that all this suffering brings…my beautiful baby girl!!
