Cardinale creates a single, limited production Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from each vintage, drawing from the distinct and diverse vineyards situated in the Mt. Veeder, Howell Mountain, and Stags Leap regions of Napa Valley. The geographic characteristics establish distinctive "footprints" of individual flavor components that lend to the unique and coveted complexity of this harmonious cuvee.

Tasting Notes:

A perfect balance of richness and vibrancy, this famed wine starts with a very fine nose of cedar, cassis, and violets, then turns dramatic and refined in the mouth. The wine has marvelous tannins, vast depth and length, and a full minute finish of sweet fruits and spices. It's a big, bold wine noted for its power, elegance, and voluptuous quality that defines Napa Valley winemaking at its finest.

Blend:

86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot

Cellaring:

Approachable now with proper decanting, though the wine has the stamina to be aged for ten years or more.

The source for the wines is the historic Napanook Vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in the Napa Valley that has been in production since the late 19th century. Located at the heart of the Napa Valley, the vineyard benefits from warm days but is kept cool by the breezes that pass over the Mayacamas Mountains.

Tasting Notes:

Good full red-ruby, showing raspberry, plum, mocha and tobacco aromas. Round and plummy in the mouth, with a restrained sweetness to the flavors of milk chocolate, mocha and licorice. A wine of moderate ripeness for the vintage, and in a shell today. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and notes of plum, mocha and chocolate.

Blend:

94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

Cellaring:
