If you can afford it, you need to try this.November 17, 2012
I had the pleasure of being exposed to Schafer wines in 1990 while at a restaurant in Boston. Since then the Schafer merlot has been my holiday or gift go to wine. Last year I was fortunate enough to share a bottle of Schafer hillside select 1999 with my husband on our anniversary. Just last week I attended a wine tasting which highlighted the shaver hillside select 2008. This wine never disappoints! As soon as your nose goes to glass there is a happy explosion happening in the brain, and you know this will be good. It is smooth from start to finish, but has a lot of complexity. I got lucky because of the weather the tasting had a small turnout, more for me!
