Acclaim:

A partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Opus One is one of Napa Valley's most highly regarded red wines. The 2006 vintage is the product of the coolest growing season in over 25 years, which resulted in a bigger, more structured version of this world-famous, coveted, five-variety Bordeaux blend.

Tasting Notes:

The 2006 vintage is simultaneously silky and dense on the palate, offering flavors of cassis, espresso, and zesty black cherry. The tannins are bolder, more dramatic, and more present yet not overwhelming. Dense and sweet but firmly structured, the wine closes with a persistently smooth and expansive finish.

Blend:

77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, and 3% Malbec

Cellaring:

A recommended 2-3 years of cellaring, though the wine should drink well for the next 20-25 years.
