The featured 2003 Opus One Napa Valley red wine is sure to impress even the most discerning wine connoisseur.
Opus One is a partnership between Robert Mondavi, the renowned Napa Valley vintner, and Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, proprietress of Chateau Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux, France. By combining the great wine-making tradition and innovations of both families, the partners' singular goal was to create an exceptional wine in the heart of Napa Valley. Like any great work, Opus One arose out of passion. Beginning with the first harvest in 1979, Opus One has expressed this vision and passionate spirit.
But the evening isn't over when the Opus One is only a memory. You still have a bottle of 2005 Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir and a 2005 Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay to enjoy. Continue to search through the lovely black-leather gift basket, and you will find smoked Pacific salmon, caviar, a rich camembert cheese with cheese knife, and a variety of other delicious supporting characters.

Wine Info2003 Opus One Napa Valley Red wine produced by Robert Mondavi. In the classic Opus style, the 2003 offers slightly smoky and darkly fruity scents, with black plum, dark cherry, bullion, baking spice, vanilla, and a hint of lavender all contributing to the aromatic depth. It is as richly oaky-toasty on the palace, but the fruit swings toward red plum and cherry, and the bullion and toast notes recede a bit. The finish lingers well, although the wine is still a bit youthfully awkward, needing a few more months for the fruit to better dominate the oaky and savory elements. Expect and lovely and impressive dinner wine now, but know that another three years of cellaring will significantly elevate the experience. It will be worth the wait.
2005 Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir. Predominantly black cherry and raspberry with a toasty mocha component from the oak. There is an excellent balance of sugar, acid, and tannins reflected in the wine. Pair with wild salmon, Ahi tuna, wild game, duck, filet mignon, pork tenderloin, rack of lamb.
2005 Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay. Creamy and crisp with abundant fruit character, mineral, and toasty oak flavors.
