Flavors of plums and cassis are the introduction to this balanced wine, as notes of toasted almonds, dried thyme, and black truffles intermingle with supple tannins for a broad, lasting finish.

Stags' Leap Napa Valley Merlot - In the mouth, this wine is full and elegant. Supple and yet firm tannin extractions are the result of fermenting the wine in small lots and hand-punching the caps during extended maceration. The nose is pretty with prominent red fruit aromas threaded with sweet vanilla, cedar and the distinctive Stags' Leap briar aroma. Ripe cherry, currant and raspberry flavors intermingle with vanilla and cinnamon-clove spiciness from 18 months of barrel aging in medium-toast French Alliers and Nevers oak barrels.
