Wine Making in All 50 States
That’s right, it is possible to grow grapes outside of California! Even though the lion’s share of wine in the U.S. comes from the Golden State (a whopping 90%), entrepreneurs from all 50 states are experimenting with different species in different climates.
Resourceful winemakers in grape-challenged environments are importing grapes or turning to local fruit, making blueberry wine in Maine, salmonberry wine in Alaska, and pineapple wine in Hawaii. This is exciting news in the wine world, both for the industry and the consumer!
