The Gift Exchange

As a wine lover, a lot of my family and friends are always saying  to me “I wanted to get you some wine, but I didn’t know what to get…”

I thought I’d blog about this subject because it seems like a common one! Wine makes a nice gift for any wine lovers on your list, so knowing what to get them without being intimidated is a good thing to know. Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Red or White?

First of all, you typically have 3 types of wine drinkers. Red wine drinkers, white wine drinkers and those who enjoy both. I’m in the ‘those who enjoy both’ category. If you know what category your recipient, that’s a great start. If not, that’s okay too – you can play it safe and get them a bottle of sparkling wine (I don’t know many wine drinkers who don’t like a little bubbly every now and then).

2. Budget

You don’t have to spend a lot to get a nice, quality wine. There are TONS of great wines for great prices out there, you just have to know where to look. My best suggestion would be to go to a wine store and ask for suggestions in your price range. Let them know who the bottle is for (your boss, a hostess gift, etc). A lot of bigger grocery stores also have a good wine selection and have a wine steward on hand to help. 3. Accessorize!

If you’d rather not give an actual bottle of wine, you can always give your recipient a wine related gift! Some great things to give a wine lover would be wine glasses, a wine tote, nice corkscrews, a decanter, wine glass charms, a fancy wine stopper or a unique wine holder.
