Treasured Friendships

Wendi Estrada, Operations Manager

“Your friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you.” Elbert Hubard.
I have one very close friend in particular I am thinking about and it’s so true. We know each others flaws and weaknesses but who cares? We are friends, through thick and thin (literally), good and bad and over the years our friendship has only grown stronger. Friendship Day is coming up quickly, August 3 to be exact, and we have a gift that really sums up friendship and that is the Friendship Treasure Ball. To be honest, when I first saw this gift, my first thought was “cheesy” but after I took the time to read the directions my perception of the gift changed. The idea is that your friend keeps the ball and at the appropriate time (whether this be a time to celebrate a joyous event or comfort in a rough time) puts another small gift in the ball and sends it back to you or to another friend in your circle of friends. The gift could be as simple as flower seeds from your garden, a handmade friendship bracelet or it could be a gift certificate to the day spa (hint to my friends)-you get the idea. The ball can be sent back and forth and around throughout the years, a symbol that true friendship is a treasure that is both priceless and timeless. I am going to send my friend the Friendship Ball and see how long we can keep it going in our group of girlfriends as life is a journey of unexpected twists and turns but one thing I know I can count on is their friendship.

  1. This is such a neat gift… I love the idea of passing the ball around your circle of friends. I would love to receive something like this. Great blog Wendi!

  2. I too thought this was “cheesy” when I first saw the picture of it, but you are so right about the meaning of the gift. My best friend is going to love this!
