The Beauty of Lotus

Lotus is one of the most unique flowers there is and it’s life cycle is truly fascinating. It grows in the mud of ponds similar to water lilies. During the day time the blooms open up leaning towards the sun, and when night comes it hides itself in the water. Many ancients considered Lotus a symbol of the sun, creation and even rebirth. It’s influence is seen through out Asian art and even more so in Egyptian art. Egyptian artists often put lotus in the hands of gods to bring out the value of their art.

Lotus is still popular throughout art today presenting itself in the realm of tattooing. The tattoo version of lotus represents a struggle and from that struggle something beautiful emerges. The Lotus itself struggles to extend through the mud and once it reaches the surface it’s absolutely beautiful. As much as we love the beauty and the meaning of lotus, florist are unable to incorporate them into flower arrangements. Don’t be too discouraged though, as they can still be planted in ponds and are known to adjust to most environments.
