The A B C’s of Going Green

A. Adopt something. An animal, a street, a neighborhood. There’s almost no limit to the number of  environmental causes you can join!
B. Buy products made of recycled materials.
C. Change water cups around office cooler to 100% Bio-compostable cups, like we did here at GiftTree.
D. Don’t buy aerosols! They can’t be recycled and most of them contribute to air pollution.
E. Eat organic.
F. Feed the Birds. Inviting birds to dine in the yard is a sure fire way to help rid your lawn of bugs at the same time without the pesticides.
G. Grow a Garden
H. Have a “Green” picnic and think of all the things you can bring to it!
I. Insulate your home.
J. Join an environmental cause (or invent one!)
K. Keep the car at home. You’d be surprised at how many things you do on a regular basis that are less than 5 miles away.
L. Look at the labels. Be a more informed shopper and choose greener products by avoiding the items with words you can’t even pronounce!
M. Make stuff. You’d be surprised at how many things you can make from scratch rather than buy pre-packaged.
N. Notify authorities when you see blatant pollution from companies. You might even get a reward!
O. Organize. Nothing saves energy and time faster than knowing where things are at.
P. Plant a tree.
Q. Quit throwing away batteries!!!!!
R. Reuse a bag over and over and over and….you get the point.
S. Stop Leaks. There are dozens of ways to insulate against leaks. Make your home as energy efficient as possible.
T. Turn off the lights!
U. Use recycled products.
V. Visit a recycling center.
W. Walk or bike instead of drive.
X. X-ercise your right to live on a cleaner, safer planet.
Y. Yell at a litterer to knock it off!
Z. Zero in on what you can do specifically, to make your corner of the world a greener space. Pick a problem and do as much as you can to fix the problem. This will make you more aware of the environment around you and a more powerful green consumer.
