Moving, a Breath of Fresh Air
The next few weeks around my house are going to be crazy. My husband and I are doing what everyone dreads most- moving! Luckily we have moved enough in our three years of marriage that we haven’t had a chance to acquired the clutter that most people do from staying in one place for a long time. We still have quite a lot of possessions for it just being the two of us, so this time we gave ourselves multiple weeks to move.
Moving, to me, is like a breath of fresh air! It forces me to organize every bit of what I own. I recently heard someone give a piece of advice that I tried and was able to incorporate into my pre-moving process. It was hard, but was worth it and I challenge all of your to do it too! So, the challenge is this:
Take all of the cloths and shoes (except your wedding dress) that you haven’t worn in the last 2 YEARS. Take them out of your closet, take them out of your drawers, out from the boxes in your attic, and wherever else you have unworn cloths hiding. Then- GET RID OF THEM! Take them to Goodwill, give them away to family, sell them. Just get them out of your house! I did it and I can’t believe how much nicer and less cluttered my closet is, and ultimately my whole house. Good Luck and let us know how it goes!

I do this, but I combine it with other people doing it. We all purge our closets, then get together and trade. Whatever is left goes to the Goodwill. It’s fun, you feel like you got rid of stuff you don’t need, and you get new clothes in the process. I can thank my sister for some of my cutest outfits.

When I moved about a year ago, I not only did this with my clothes, but with stuff. Kitchen stuff, unused candles (which I had a ton of!), movies, CD’s, etc. Getting rid of all that stuff really helped on the moving day!
