Most Common Birthday

Did you know that October 5th is the most common American birthday? An average of 12,576 people are born on this day every year. It may not seem so strange when you consider that, in order to be born on October 5th, the date of conception would have occurred on New Year’s Eve.

According to anybirthday.com, which keeps over 135 million birth records on-hand, May 22nd is the least common birthday in America. An average of 10,259 babies are born on that date—about 2,300 less than October 5th. Conception for those babies would fall late August when it is speculated that intense heat may keep couples from…well, you know.

Wherever the birthday of your loved ones falls, be sure to surprise them with not-so-common birthday gifts.

  1. That is so odd! My due date is October 1st. I wonder if i can hold out for 4 extra days. I guess we all know when I conceived… :) ~

  2. One of my sons was born on October 5th as well as one of my grandchildren, my best friend and one of my sisters. Now I know what all of them were up to on the previous New Years Eve!

  3. How is February 29 not the least common birthday? It only comes every 4 years! As a leap day baby, I feel cheated.

  4. I was born October 5th and so was my stepbrother. A few years ago I heard on the radio that, most likely, conception would have occurred on New Year’s Eve. Too much information! LOL!
