The Gift Exchange

Shawna Fuller is our featured employee this month! She is the Director of the Customer Service Department and wears many hats for GiftTree. Shawna’s sense of humor, boisterous laugh and love for a good prank is what makes her so fun to be around. Work life aside, she’s a busy wife, and a mother to a beautiful 18 month old girl. Baby #2 is on the way, and due to arrive in early October! Shawna took some time out of her busy day to answer some questions for us.

1.  How did you get started with GiftTree?
I temped here for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day 2003. I reapplied for a permanent position in September of that year

2.  What do you like to do in your off time?
Camp, we really like to do that

3. What’s the best part of working here?
My Team! In the call center and from other departments

4. What is the last movie you saw?
Get Him to the Greek,  but I had to watch it whenever Mac was sleeping so it took me about 4 days to watch during naps!

5. Rumor has it that some GiftTree employees are fond of pranks… any good ones you remember?
Brother, there are a ton. Probably the best one was when our resources guy Bill filled up keg cups with water and put them in my office. He color coded them so they were all orange, but in the middle he used green ones that spelled out hi. It took me an hour to clean up. I also fed a few people really nasty jelly beans that were actually a gift from Alicia!

6. If you could have dinner with any one person dead or alive, famous or not, who would it be?
That’s a toss up, either Elvis or George W Bush

7. Any pregnancy cravings?
Burgerville cheeseburgers and spinach for the moment. Tomorrow may be a different story…

This is why we love Shawna..

Shawna is very dedicated and hard working. The daily tasks and responsibilities she has is impressive, yet she handles them with ease. Her positive attitude is infectious, and she’s a great role model for her team. Directing the Customer Service Department isn’t a job just anybody can do. Multi-tasking is a must! She is responsible for staffing, training, scheduling and productivity of all CS Team Members, coordinating all the hiring and training of seasonal employees, planning and executing successful holiday seasons within the CS Department, and ensuring that everything is being monitored, handled and running smoothly. During stressful peak holiday times, Shawna anticipates any possible issues, delegates tasks when needed, supervises our corporate team as well as the customer service team, and makes sure everybody is staying positive and productive. She keeps a clear line of communication with other departments, and maintains awareness of what her team is doing at all time. Over the years, she’s helped GiftTree develop and implement new systems and procedures which have improved the productivity and efficiency of her Department. All this, PLUS she is the chairperson for GiftTree’s Safety committee. Suffice it to say, we love and appreciate all the things she does here, and if we wrote down everything she did, well, we’d be here all day!
