Earth Day Challenge
Earth Day is April 22nd and GiftTree is celebrating for the entire month. GiftTree personnel are challenging themselves, and each other, to do (or not do) just one environmentally friendly thing for the entire month.
In honor of our Earth Day Challenge, a large board by the front door shows everyone’s written commitments. There are some great ideas! Some people have decided to plant vegetable gardens or compost, which of course will continue far beyond the month of April. Some employees are carpooling and a few are riding their bikes to work at least once a week. Considering we’re located in Washington State, where the rain hardly stops, that’s some serious dedication! We’re walking more, buying organic, remembering to actually use our reusable grocery bags, drying laundry on a clothesline (as weather permits), and recycling more than ever.
It’s fun to get involved with the challenge, but we all want to continue to do our part after the month is over and Earth Day is another year away. To learn more about Earth Day and get some great ideas on what you can do help protect our planet, visit EarthDay.gov.

I too planted my first garden, mostly organic, installing a watering system that will use less water, including rain water, carpool almost everyday to work, composting, and have recently become part of a furniture recycling community. Yeah for Earth Day!

Currently it sounds like WordPress is the preferred blogging platform out there right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?
