Administrative Professionals Day Contest

Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 22nd this year, but really, the whole week is dedicated to our valued Admins. This has become one of the largest workplace celebrations in the US. Administrative Professionals have a tough job and often go unrecognized, but Admin’s Day gives us the opportunity to make sure the professional in our lives know they are appreciated.

GiftTree wants to help you treat your Administrative Professional with our Sincerest Thanks Gourmet Gift Basket. Leave a comment here to tell us why your Admin is the best of the best and you’ll be entered to win. We’ll select the best answer and ship the gift to you or directly to your admin, if you’d like. And let’s face it, Administrative Professionals are good at getting things done so if you’re an admin, feel free to enter yourself in this contest as well. Just tell us what makes you a great Administrative Professional.

Deadline to Enter: Midnight (PST), Monday, April 13th. Follow GiftTree on Twitter to receive notifications of future contests.

  1. I nominate myself, and I truly hope you know that I nominate myself with deepest humility. I am obsessively organized, in fact, I have raging OCD. I think I am in the perfect field of work, as I keep everything organized and running smoothly, I obsess over the details, and nothing slips through the cracks. I am considered the “Go-To Girl”, and that’s why I want this prize to “Go-To” me!

  2. My administrative assistant is wonderful. She works hards, knows what I need before I even know what I need. Like a multitasker at home, she multitasks at work and really does more work than is expected but shows she is a knowledgeable hardworking person who will work hard becuase she understands times are tough and we all have to do the best we can and sometimes overwork. She smiles and cares truly what is going on in your life, calls to make sure you are ok if you are sick, or if your kids are. There are some people that deserve the world and deserve great pay, but unfortunately times are financially tough and she will do ten peoples jobs in order to keep hers and others so no one else gets fired..she is a great part of the team and I pray she never leaves, otherwise expenses will go up- (she knows where to get the deals and coupons to save on the supplies). She is the first one there and the last one out, never complaining and usually without shoes and always with a diet soda to help keep her going. Thanks to all the assistants out there who deserve the world…we do what we can these days..but thankyou for understanding times indeed are tough.

  3. I nominate my sister who is my blog partner and handles all the administrative side of our blog. Without her help I wouldn’t have the time to do all the fun creative stuff I work on a daily basis to provide for our readers!

  4. paige chandler Says:

My admin Jill is the best because she is the best on the phone – ever! She also knows all the company secrets. I couldn’t do it without her.

  5. I nominate my assistant who has only been working here for a few months but knows what I need before I need it. She was the perfect piece of the puzzle we needed here. She handles every matter with the utmost of importance even if it’s merely checking the mail, and I don’t tell her enough how much I couldn’t run this business without her.

  6. adrienne Gordon Says:

tina does a greta job of organizing all our events and keeping me on task.

  7. You know why my admin is the best?? Everyone in our office hated those post its that open up like an accordian….She heard us and was like WHAT you hate those….Next day, back to the regular post its!! Shes the best…

  8. I nominate my mom that works at a company and does a great job and has done it for 20 years!!
She deserves this gift and it would be delightful for her boss to see her get it too.

  9. Our Admin has a heart of gold- there’s always fresh donuts, danishes and coffee for our early morning “power up” office meetings- and some sugarfree cookies for me ( I’m diabetic)!

  10. Megan is a firm but kind leader. She makes every effort to be certain she is understood, (she is Deaf) she is always fair and is dedicated to her staff’s development. I can’t say enough good things about her. She is not my supervisor but supports my program with equal zeal. She deserves this gift basket.

    Thank you. :-)

  11. thanks for this win

  12. love the gift basket

  13. I humbly nominate myself. I am a paralegal, and currently work for over 70 attorneys. No one recognizes me on administrative professionals day, because I work at home, and not in any of their offices.
If it weren’t for me…….You know the story

  14. galena penrod Says:

my girl friend for she dos’nt give up

  15. My admin is the best because he is thoughtful and understanding even when I am having a stressful day.

  16. I nominate my brother Grrg. He is the jack-of-all trades and there is no(legal) job that he won’t do for the good of the business.

  17. She’s efficient, sweet and just the best.

  18. I nominate my sister, Lori, who has amazing organizational skills. She manages to work full time and get the kids to all their extracurricular activities with no help from her husband. She is going from 5:00am until 8:00pm when all the homework is done. She isn’t just an administrative proffesional at work, she is one at home as well. The other thing that amazes me is that she is always pleasant, even under pressure.

  19. The Admins. at our place not only does everything for everyone whenever anything is needed, BUT, is also a VOLUNTEER! How lucky can we be!

  20. tracy davis Says:

I nominate myself because I am great

  21. Rose Alexis Says:

I nominate Bev Sowards because she is an Administrative Assistant who works the night shift at a hospital, in the baby nursery. Her work time is split up between administrative assistant duties and ‘baby duty,’ and some of the situations she comes across are challenging at best. She sees the best (healthy babies with a good home), and the worst (drug addicted newborns, babies with an unloving home, etc.) of the newborn baby world, but she never loses sight of what is important. She does her job well and with a wonderful attitude, and she does her best to help not only her boss, but also the babies and the new ‘mommies,’ as she calls them. I think she really deserves a nice prize on her special day, and I’d love to have this sent to her.

  22. I am a good admin asst because I have learned to anticipate what needs to be done and keep things organized.

  23. Patti Sherman Says:

Everything let in the hands of our Admin. Asst is secure and finalized in a timely manner. She deserves a tea break

  24. Ronda Garnett Says:

lol…Wish I had an admin assistant…but since I don’t I’ll have to nominate myself!! I think I am very good at keeping our company organized and running extremely efficiently. I have had other companies ask me for advice on how to stay organized…and I give it to them free of charge..and they always come back with very positive feedback about my suggestions. Maybe I should think about starting a new career..lol

  25. Ours works in a office between the owner (Hardcore Republican and Well Spoken about it) and our Computer programmer (A hardcore well Spoken Democrat). T o be able to listen to that every day and still come back, that is worthy of a gift right there.

  26. beth shepherd Says:

I nominate my husband. He is truly the best admin assistant. I am a homemaker and he helps with everything I need :) He is my best and only admin assistant and he does darn good :)
    Thank you
    tatertot374@sbcglobal.net

  27. Tom Bellamy Says:

    Because she is my wife.

  28. Denise Stephens Says:

I would love this gift pack! Unfortunately, due to the economy we do not get raises this year, did not get them last year either and I have been working at a major state university for 17 years and no recognition of my hard work, dedication, and service for all these years. Sometimes it would be nice just to receive a small gift of appreciation for what you do.

  29. Great Giveaway

  30. A team of three admins serve my office of five senior education officials in an urban school district. Each of the women is flexible, does not get hung up on who technically works for whom when asked to work on a project, and completes their work with good attention to detail, a strong sense of humor, and extraordinary professionalism. They also genuinely care about one another, other members of the office team, and our shared mission of helping 5,000 children receive the best education they can. How do I know? Hand decorated cakes brought into the office to celebrate important milestones, after-hours email messages to check-in after difficult days, and postcards sent from sunny vacation locales. I nominate the three admins in my office – Patti, Maryann and Christina – to share this prize.

  31. i’m afraid to say i would nominate myself.. i am the only one where and work and they just can’t handle it without me

  32. sally wess Says:

    i, also, nominate myself.
Admin, bz mgr, office mgr, are some of the titles i have been. i excelled because not only was i an expert of dealing with business in general, but i could also relate to the customers as a friend. i have a great work ethic, and able to handle any problem with being able to think on my feet.
businesses and customers, found it a pleasure to work with me to solve or execute whatever was needed at that moment or down the line. they had the confidence of knowing i would follow through , no matter how difficult it might be.

  33. Vicki Chrzanowski Says:

I nominate my Office Manager Sherry, she answers the phones, dispatches calls and handles all of the billing. She has been with us for over 20 years

  34. I’m nominating myself because over my many years working for the same company I have taken on responsibilities without any fan fare or requests from my employer or co-workers. I handle so many tasks in the office that when I take a day off, the office melts down. I really make the work environment stress free for my co-workers. If I’m there, they know ALL work will be done, the clients will be happy and we can leave at the end of the day without dreading unfinished work that will assail us the following morning.

    I’m their smooth-sailing office manager.

  35. Well I just have to say there one fantastically amazing administrative assistant in our department. Not only does she buy hot, piping fresh donuts and pastries for us each morning, but she hand feeds each and every one of us here at the office. We don’t even have to get our hands dirty. She anticipates when we want a cold drink or a snack and has it available and will hand feed/hand drink us if need be. She regularly takes my mending home with her, totally free and finishes it in a single day. She has cleaned my home several times, all for free. Still she does her job spectacularly, without ever missing a beat. I can’t say enough about her, she is simply fantastic!

  36. Jennifer M Says:

  39. My admin is the best because she drives me everywhere.

  40. I nominate myself. I am the book keeper for hubbys business and he would never think to do anything this nice for me. Shucks he doesnt even pay me for the 25 hours a weekd I work, but the benefits are pretty good!

  41. I’m an admin assistant for American Family Insurance, and I love it! It’s a lot of hard work, and it seems like I’m a slave at times, but I wouldn’t trade my job for anything else in the world!

  42. My assistant is the greatest because of all the errands that I’m always sending him to do, he gets it all done & more.

  43. Sharon Seneker Says:

My Mom always takes care of business! She just had her second breast removed due to breast cancer and is recovering now. She would love this win! Thanks!

  44. My sister, she keeps all 3 of her kids on schedule.

  45. Didn’t know so many ‘walk on water’ in their employee’s eye! Only thing I could add is that our (A.P.) has and continues to work towards keeping our jobs during this economic downturn – which has a ripple effect for virtually hundreds! ;)

  46. Stephanie Adkins Says:

My assistant has saved me from a million jams over the past year. She is pricless. I would love to get this basket for her.

  47. Diane Baum Says:

I nominate katie Weise, who year after year is alalwys volunteer President of a local International club, in additoin to working full time and being a full time wife and mom.She plans an average of four events a months and never gets rattled, she goes with the flow!

  48. Taryl Holbrook Says:

My husband is the greatest assistant. I have trouble writing and he helps me all the time.

  49. My best friend because she can do it all!

  50. The administrative assistant at our high school is great. Handling teenagers and their parents all day is a tough job! She does this after taking care of two of her grandchildren full-time. Terri is great!

  51. Phil Estelle, Jr. Says:

Jennifer Is My Admin Asst – She Rocks! She Not Only Anticipates My Customers Needs, But Helps Me Get my Job Done too!

  52. I nominate my mom because while I’m studying hard for college, she helps me no matter what- with errands or helping me research with some of my problems. She also helps my twin sister. If we’re pulling her at both ends of the string, she doesn’t get exasperated or upset. She helps one and then the other!

  53. What makes me a good Administrator? I produce a TV series locally to give artists of all genres a voice in the media and have to constantly work with all sorts of people and adjust to them and put them at ease so that they’ll do well in their interviews (they can use the tapes to send in for grants for themselves!), and I have to deal with engineers,
videographers, other administrators (to get the interviews), etc. – you really have to be a people person to do what I’m doing! It helps that I really care about everyone concerned and try to clear up any issues that they may have as soon as possible!

  54. Jennifer gersch Says:

My admin does her duties, volunteers forother duties, and never complains

  55. Gabriel J. Says:

    My assistant would love it!

  56. I nominate my mom.
She is amazing at her job. She always gives her best to every company she works at, and she always receives the best praise from her bosses and coworkers, but we just moved, and she is now starting a new job, and doesn’t real feel as if she is doinga good job. I know she is. And I want to show her that.

  57. I’m grinning as I say this, but I have to nominate myself because I’m the person who does all the admin work for our music business. I love my work and I think that’s rare these days so I know I’m lucky.

My business partner gives me all the time and space I need to get things done right, so that means a lot, too. I think that when workers are respected and that respect is shown, the work that is produced is much better and the workplace is so much more pleasant.

A secondary reason for being excited about this prize is that I’m the world’s most serious chocoholic and sweets junky! (But yes, I’d share!) :-) I looked this basket up and the items it contains are very exciting! I think I’d start with the Organic Latte Chocolate Bar and that would provide a VERY good day!!

  58. I work as an office manager for a psychological practice. I work about 50 hrs a week doing everything from doing secretary duties, to bookkeeping, billing, plus I have a three year old at home and I am 7 months pregnant…yeah I stay busy!

  59. My sister takes care of all the family events and birthdays so this one is for her.

  60. I nominate myself. I think one of the greatest qualities an AA can have is to think ahead, whether it be what the boss might want for lunch or how to increase sales.

  61. My daughter is the best Administrative Assistant. She is fast, efficient and always meets her deadlines in a timely manner. She is not only an administrative assistant on her regular job, but for her Church and her community center. Boy can this girl multi-task effectively.

  62. Theresa Clift Says:

  67. We detail cars & the car dealer we work for is so kind, they gave us an electric heater for winter & ice cream and cold drinks for summer they are truly the best, this gift would go to them as a awesome thank you.

  68. I nominate my mom, she has the most amazing people skills of anyone I’ve ever met, and has the uncanny ability to handle all obstacles with grace. Her boss is lucky to have her!

  69. I nominate my husband. He busts his behind out at his job and yet everyone else gets the praise for the work because he doesn’t have the title. It is as if they walk all over him and treat him like there dog. But if it wasn’t for my husband doing THERE work the store would have already went to hell. My husband has the bad knees \, feet and back to show the hell he goes through but he still does it to take care of our daughter and myself. I love him for all he does and he deserves to be appreciated.

  70. My admin keeps me organized, interested in new ideas, and always on my toes!

  71. My assistant has the following quote pinned up on on the wall and the quote says it all (describes her better than I can) because she sure knows her work – she is worth her weight in gold.

She seems amazed at this, but it is just a matter of loving my job (admin in a children’s mental outpatient clinic), listening to words that aren’t spoken out loud and following through.

  79. I am a great administrative person because of my attention to details

  80. I nominate Mollie from the Chelan Valley Independent School. The term “Administrative Professional” fits her perfectly as she is no one’s assistant, but everyone’s helpmate. Mollie replaced our former Office Manager/Admin Assistant AND our Director 3 years ago and does EVERYTHING that is needed from the bookkeeping, to recess, to bandaging skinned knees, to making sure we are all well-supplied with staples, paper, and dark chocolate. She also fields all parent issues, hiring, and manages our board. Mollie is the go-to person for every issue and is not at all well compensated for her work. She does it selflessly and often we forget to tell her how much we appreciate her. I really don’t know how our school would run if we didn’t have Mollie. Mollie defines “Administrative Professional” and really deserves to be acknowledged for her dedication, hard work, unique brand of love, and the chocolate. I hope you’ll consider our unsung hero for this honor. Thank you!

so I hope you will, too!

  87. Tammy Greer Says:
