Top 10 Baby Names

GiftTree’s very own Wendi Estrada recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Congrats, Wendi! His name is Christian Jacob and what a looker! He has two older sisters who I’m sure will give him grief, but I have a feeling he’ll get even by dating all of their friends.

Wendi chose such a great name for Christian. It made me wonder what names are most popular for new babies. According to the Social Security Administration the top 10 baby names in 2007 were:

Boys:
Jacob
Michael
Ethan
Joshua
Daniel
Christopher
Anthony
William
Matthew
Andrew

Girls:
Emily
Isabella
Emma
Ava
Madison
Sophia
Olivia
Abigail
Hannah
Elizabeth

If you’d like to learn more about baby names, the Social Security Administration has a fun page. You can find out what year(s) a particular name was popular, search popular names by year or even decade. That’s how I found out that there were 581,551 Jennifer’s born in the US in the 70’s. That’s over 3.5% of all girls born in the 70’s. Yeah, my parents were really original. Maybe you can use the website to choose names that aren’t so popular. Either way, it’s a fun page to play around on. http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

  1. I just found out 2 days ago that I am going to have a girl. My husband and I already had names picked out for a boy and a girl. We went with naming the baby after family members. My little girls name is Erica Lynn. It is good to know that Erica hasn’t been a very popular name in the last 15 years. :)

  2. Hello Jennifer :) I just saw this today :) Christian is doing great and I have one daughter on the most popular girl name list…Olivia Grace. Notice Christian’s middle name is on the most popular list also!
