Arizona Opera

Arizona Opera produces a five opera season, with three performance dates in Tucson at the TCC Music Hall and four performances at Symphony Hall in Phoenix. Over the past five years, the artistic quality of the Opera has grown by leaps and bounds. During the 2000-2001 season, the opera appointed its first Principal Conductor, Cal Stewart Kellogg, and formed the Arizona Opera Orchestra, made up of professional, Arizona-based musicians. The Opera Chorus also relies upon young regional talent, and Arizona Opera's principal talent continues to be engaged from all over the country and often, from around the world.

Arizona Theatre Company

Now ending its 34th year, Arizona Theatre Company is the state's leading professional theatre, performing six productions at the Temple of Music and Art in Tucson and at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix from September to May each season. (ATC is the only LORT regional theatre in the country to operate in two cities.) Last year nearly 150,000 people experienced a rich variety of theatre at ATC.

In 1967, Arizona Civic Theatre staged its first production in a Tucson hotel for a small following of interested community theatre goers. In 1972, the company made the transition to a fully professional company. In 1978, the company became Arizona Theatre Company and began staging productions in Phoenix. ATC's reputation for producing excellence on stage has garnered the company many awards, including the Presidential Citation, and the official designation in 1990 as "The State Theatre of Arizona."

Tucson Museum of Art & Historic Block

The Tucson Museum of Art connects art to life, inspiring discovery, creativity, and cultural understanding through meaningful, engaging experiences.

The Historic Block features:

• J. Know Corbett House: The Corbett House, built in 1907, is Mission Revival style, with a clay tile roof and arched front windows. The completely refurbished house features an extensive collection of beautiful and unique decorative objects from the Arts and Crafts era.
• Edward Nye Fish House (Goodman Pavilion of Western American Art): The Fish House was built in 1867 on the site of the Presidio Barracks. The territorial style adobe building currently houses the Goodman Pavilion of Western American Art featuring the notable Campbell Collection of fine Western American Art.
• Stevens/Duffield House (Palice Pavilion/Art of the Americas Galleries): The 'Casa' is a restored residence dating from the 1850-80 period. This adobe home is typical of the Mexican style home in Tucson during the second half of the century. A small museum with a replica of the Presidio, artifacts from that period and rooms depicting the home-life during that time in history is featured. Casa Cordova also houses the seasonal El Nacimiento, showcasing over 300 earthen figurines.
• Romero House: Built in the 1860s, the historic Romero House is currently used by the ceramic classes of the TMA Art School.
