The Center is located on a nine acre site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River in Downtown Tampa, and provides an environment for a wide variety of performances, concerts, and events. The $57 million (in 1987 dollars), 300,000 square foot, state-of-the-art complex is the largest performing arts center in the Southeastern United States.
The mission of Tampa Bay Symphony is to promote widespread interest in classical music and the symphony orchestra among the youth in our region and throughout the State of Florida through Young Artist's Competitions and other means; to educate the youth in our region and throughout the State of Florida in a broad range of the symphonic arts; to provide opportunities for young musicians to develop their skills through association with a symphony orchestra; and to generally promote and enhance the cultural and artistic life of all members of our community, young and old alike.
The Salvador Dalí Museum shall educate the public and promote understanding, enjoyment and scholarly examination of art through the exhibition of works by Dalí and artists of similar vision. The Salvador Dalí Museum shall preserve and expand its collection of art of Dalí and related archival material. In cooperation with other museums and educational institutions, the Salvador Dalí Museum shall be an active resource in the cultural life of our local, state, national and world communities by the presentation of intriguing and varied exhibitions and programs.
Florida International Museum has become one of Florida's premier cultural attractions, having hosted over 2.5 million visitors from all 50 states and over 100 countries since it opened in 1995.
The museum is dedicated to providing educational, cultural and historical exhibitions. To date, over 700,000 school children have toured the museum. In 1999, the museum opened year-round for the first time with a collection of artifacts from the late President John F. Kennedy, his family and others surrounding the Kennedy clan.
Now in its 36th season The Florida Orchestra is recognized as Tampa Bay's leading performing arts institution, one of the leading professional symphony orchestras in Florida, and one of the best regional orchestras in America. With a full orchestra of 80 professional musicians, the Orchestra performs more than 150 concerts annually, including Masterworks, Super Pops, Coffee Concerts, Blue Jeans Classics, Kids Time Classics, free parks concerts, youth concerts and concerts at Pasco County's Center for the Arts in River Ridge.
Located along the scenic Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, Florida, the Tampa Museum of Art provides a broad range of art-related experiences for visitors of all ages. The Museum collection includes twentieth-century and contemporary art and a renowned collection of Greek and Roman antiquities. A changing special exhibitions program provides a lively mix of classical and contemporary shows. Complementing these exhibitions are a wide range of classes, lectures, seminars, and children's activities. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Tampa Museum of Art was established in 1979 and is member supported and funded in part by the City of Tampa, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, and the Florida Arts Council. Additional programs are offered with the support of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.
