Here you will learn about the range of opportunities available at Phipps: exchange your vows in our gardens; take your business meeting on a botanical safari; tour our National Historic Landmark with a knowledgeable and passionate docent; or volunteer in one of our greenhouses. The opportunities for involvement at Phipps are limited only by your sense of adventure!


Pittsburgh Children's Museum


Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is reaching Great Heights with exciting exhibits and programs for the young and young-at-heart. Visitors can scale the Kids' Climber, create silkscreen prints and paint in our multimedia Studio, learn about health and anatomy with our seven-foot tall blue-haired mascot Stuffee, put on a puppet show at one of four stages, enjoy the original puppets from Mister Roger's Neighborhood and much more. The Children's Museum also offers fun, unique educational programs, outreach performances and classes


Pennsylvania Trolley Museum


As buses and automobiles began to replace streetcars more than a half century ago, a small group of people with a dream came together to form an organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting the historical significance of urban and interurban mass transportation.

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has evolved over the past 50 years from a handful of volunteers and a few trolleys to over 600 members and currently 45 trolleys preserved a its museum in Washington, Pennsylvania. It is unique in that visitors actually experience the Trolley Era first hand by riding the Museum's beautifully restored streetcars for a scenic four-mile ride into the past.


The Jimmy Stewart Museum


The Jimmy Stewart Museum, located in Indiana, Pennsylvania (Jimmy's hometown) highlights its namesake's accomplishments in film, radio and TV. His roles as military hero, civic leader, family man and world citizen are also woven into displays, film presentations and gallery talks. There's even a special room dedicated to his family's long and colorful history in Western Pennsylvania. A daguerreotype of his great grand-dad in Civil War uniform, baby photos of Jimmy, and his dad's old desk from the family hardware store are all on display.

Displays are chock full of original movie posters and photos beginning from the 1930's on. Awards and citations from Hollywood, film critics, the Boy Scouts and many other organizations from all over fill walls and cases. Jimmy has personally selected favorite momentos of his career to display, such as a Winchester commemorative rifle and a propeller blade autographed by the cast and crew of "Flight of the Phoenix". All of this adds a personal touch to this one-of-a-kind museum.


The National Aviary


The National Aviary is America's only independent indoor nonprofit bird zoo. Located in historic North Side's West Park. The Aviary is home to 600+ birds of more than 200 species. Many are threatened or endangered in the wild. Our natural, planted exhibits allow visitors an up-close view of the bird world. From hummingbirds to Andean Condors, the birds represent nearly every continent, with a particular emphasis on rainforest and wetland habitats.


Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium


The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day! Located approximately five miles east of downtown Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is a 77-acre facility that is home to thousands of animals representing hundreds of diverse species. Committed to education, research and wildlife conservation, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is actively involved in 25 Species Survival Plans and proudly exhibits 32 threatened or endangered species. The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is one of only six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country.
