The Nashville Symphony is widely regarded as the cornerstone of the performing arts in Middle Tennessee. With more than 200 performances annually, The Symphony offers local audiences a range of Classical, Pops, Pied Piper children's series concerts, as well as a variety of special events at venues including Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Ryman Auditorium, War Memorial Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry. The Symphony performs with other leading arts organizations, including Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera and Tennessee Repertory Theatre, as well.
The Frist Center for the Visual Arts is dedicated to presenting great art from around the world. The Center hosts traveling exhibitions from the United States and abroad, as well as develops its own exhibitions on a diverse range of themes. Some exhibitions remain a few months. Some for up to three years. With ever-changing treasures from around the world, each visit provides new opportunities for discovery.
The Frist Center for the Visual Arts is a nonprofit art-exhibition center, with approximately 24,000 square feet of gallery space, dedicated to presenting the finest visual art from local, state and regional artists, as well as major U.S. and international exhibitions.
TPAC is located in the James K. Polk Cultural Center at 505 Deaderick Street in downtown Nashville, occupying an entire city block between 5th and 6th Avenues and Deaderick and Union Streets. Also housing the Tennessee State Museum, the cultural center adjoins the 18 story James K. Polk Office Tower.
The performance venues at TPAC are Andrew Jackson Hall (2,472 seats), James K. Polk Theater (1,075), Andrew Johnson Theater (288) and War Memorial Auditorium (1668), the historic landmark located across 6th Avenue and the plaza from the Center. Among its many operations, TPAC presents a series of Broadway shows and special engagements, and administers a comprehensive education program.
